It is again almost 30 paintings in 30 days challenge time. Leslie Saeta (www.lesliesaeta.blogspot.com) challenges us to improve our paintings by doing one a day, and it sometimes helps me. Artist, Karen Knutson, (www.karenknutson.blogspot.com) is the friend who introduced me to the challenge, and I am forever grateful to her!
My goal for September 2016 is to paint 30 monochromatic abstracts representing characteristics of my late, beloved nephew, Lance Cooper. I will name them after some of his strengths, such as, "Shades of witty."
The monochromatic part will challenge me the most, so I will have to rely on design, texture, shades of one color each day. Can I promise to finish 30 without succumbing to a full palette? We shall see.
Brain Cancer took Lance's life. He donated his body to science, hoping to help others. He was that kind of guy, through and through. 30 days isn't long enough to heal my heart, but it is a start. My watercolors will be mixed with tears for all of us who knew and loved Lance.
